A $20 LESSON IN VEGAS

We were warned that the average wait time in a Las Vegas nightclub line was 45 mins to 3 hours.  If we wanted to avoid waiting in long lines we should get there early.  As someone who doesn't start getting ready to go to the club until close to midnight, I was dreading either getting to the club early or waiting for hours in line.

So when a "club promoter" on the strip said he was selling VIP tickets to XS nightclub at Encore for half price and we could avoid standing in line,  we jumped on the passes.  We talked him down from $50 to $20 (clue number one).  He said he would check our I.D. now so that the bouncer wouldn't have to check them at the door (clue number two).  We walked away feeling good that we had talked him down and we were going to see our favorite DJ, Deadmou5.

Later that night while standing in another long line for Zummanity, I began to feel uneasy about the passes we purchased for XS.  I didn't want to say out loud what I was thinking, "these passes are probably fake".   The passes were generic and why would a hot Vegas club sell VIP passes for $20.

Still we optimistically headed to the club at 2 am.  At the VIP door the bouncer told us Deadmou5 just started and we excitingly showed him our passes.  He said where did you get these from they're fake. My heart sank. We had to fork over another $20 to get into the club.

The next day I stormed down the strip hoping I would run into the fake club promoter.  When I go to Vegas in June I will still be looking for him.  I kept the fake pass as a reminder to always trust my first instincts.
